Situation
Maison Brana has chosen to forgo the Irouléguy appellation in order to use heritage grape varieties that are now forgotten and outside the AOP specifications. This is to rediscover flavors and preserve the unique character of Basque terroir grape varieties.
Geology & Grape Varieties
Triassic micaceous sandstone floors.
Grape varieties: 80% Arrouya 20% Erremaxaoua
20% Descended from the Camarou family
35-year-old vines
Steel making
The grapes are hand-picked at peak ripeness. They undergo total destemming immediately after harvesting, retaining only the berries, to optimize fruitiness and roundness. Vinification in tanks is carried out separately for each grape variety and plot.
